Via the Federal Reserve, the banks continue to steal indirectly in addition to their direct theft. Politicians are happy because they can start and fund wars more readily, plus many of them get big "bonuses" from the banks, as the banks, like other large industries, figured out a while back that it's cheaper to buy politicians than to actually work for one's money.
