I agree with you on a lot of your points here Jean. I especially don't want the Tea Parties to get tied up with either political party, especially Sarah Palin who I don't find to be a credible voice for "change." Reason Magazine…

It's a Mixed Bag of Tea

Don't be alarmed. I am not out to (tea) bag the tea bag folks. I like them, well, most of them. And I'm talking about the national group here, our local groups are by and large doing a fine job!But with regard to the national bunch, I certainly agree with their free market philosophy and I admire their infectious enthusiasm. They have, and will, and are making a difference. Good for them, and for us, although I may be a little envious of their unbridled energy. I am more familiar with a bridled…See More

I believe it goes like this: Who hires football coaches at UNM? UNM's Athletic Department, with the VP of Athletics Steve Krebs at the helm in cooperation with UNM's HR Department, both of which fall under the direction of UNM's…

Who is responsible for hiring football coaches?

I completely agree with this. However, I think that had the UNM football team gone 8-2 rather than 0-10, the UNM Administration would be heaping accolades upon him and ignoring his other flaws. Which, if true, doesn't say much for the folks…

Thanks for the link, Tom! Just about everyone can look good on paper or in a press release, can't they? However, you make a good point, probably not every dollar I referenced is directly paid by the taxpayers, but you can bet your bottom…

Here's the press release on Locksley's hiring nearly a year ago. As you read it was announced by UNM VP for Athletics Paul Krebs. I know diddly-squat about who hires athletic coaches and how their salaries are determined and how they are…

Locksley is one darned expensive failure

I am just doing some very loose math, but it appears that UNM's Coach Locksley who managed to fire a female staff member for being too old and allegedly hit an assistant coach before leading the UNM Lobos football team to a 0 - 10 losing season, has cost New Mexico's taxpayers way over a million dollars. It's like he was on a free-for-all and no-questions-asked spending spree with a taxpayer Platinum AmEx card. He seems to have not a care in the world; he just does what he wants, hits who he…See More

I suppose that without the different factions of conservative thought, we wouldn't have the fascinating dialogue and diversity of opinions that currently exist. Even though some of it goes over more than a few heads (mine often included), the…

Sarah Palin! Why do you think so many so called elites and 'cerebral' people dislike her? And why do you think so many 'Elmer Fudds' and 'JeanieB's like her? Because she knows how to speak like a 'regular…

Republican, Conservative, Independent, The Movement, Libertarian, Common Sense Leadership

No wonder I was so confused when I first became involved in 'the movement', having been a long time 'Republican' who felt she was 'independent' in her thinking and fairly 'conservative' in her opinions with a 'common sense' approach to life and a limited foundation of 'libertarian' thought gleaned somewhere in my past.I suppose it's not much different than being a former Independent now turned Libertarian with Conservative values, but running for office as aregistered Republican with a Common…See More

Mike, I like your new math (which is non-participatory Democracy). The actual mayoral turnout was 26%. So the math goes .26 x 43.82 = .1139, which means the mayor pulled just over 11% of the eligible voters for victory.

Inspiring Interview with Michael Reagan

I was touched by the informality of the setting, the simple candor and the personal stories in this interview. My friend, Armando Regil Velasco - President of IPEA in Mexico, recently interviewed Michael Reagan and has made it available to us.

This interview offers the words of a son about his father, including life experiences and real examples of President Ronald Reagan's lifelong belief in smaller government, lower taxes and freedom, beginning from Michael's childhood and… Continue
